What is a Journey BoxTM

Every mental health journey, whether diagnosed or undiagnosed, takes courage and endurance. Whether it's an all too common diagnosis such as depression or a serious brain disease such as schizophrenia or bi-polar disorder, we have all been impacted by someone with a mental health issue. Statistically, one in four Americans are diagnosed annually.

 

Treatments and therapy can start the road to wellness, but on that road we sometimes lose sight of taking care of ourselves. The concept of the Journey BoxTM is to provide individuals who are experiencing life-altering challenges and may lack the financial or emotional resources to fulfill every day needs with a box of practical items needed every day. And when it comes from someone who cares, it can make all the difference at a critical moment in their journey.​

Unique Journey BoxesTM can be created depending on the need or situation with items such as:

 

Phyllis, these were suggested by Southeastern that I've added to the list below:​  Dollar Tree-hygiene items such as shampoo, conditioner, 3-in-one, deodorant, body wash, lotion, household goods such as kleenexes, toilet paper, paper towels, laundry soap, all purpose cleaners, etc.  Members also enjoy goodies such as popcorn, peanuts, coffee creamer, junior mints, etc.

A ppliances.  Electric toasters, can openers, and other food preparation appliances.

B ooks. Inspirational, recovery, adventure, scientific, autobiographical.

C ookware.  6" saute pan, baking dishes, saucepans.

D ishes.  Plates, glasses, coffee cups, silverware.

F ood items.  Coffee creamer, candy bars, popcorn, peanuts.

G adgets. Jar opener, 

H ygiene items.  Shampoos & conditioners (3 in 1); deodorant (men/women), body wash, lotion, tissues, toilet paper, paper towels.

Get involved

​Empire Mental Health Support is an approved 501(c)(3) organization. Deductions for contributions made are as provided in Section 170 of the IRS tax code. Tax ID #85-1684375.

If you would like to set up a regular business or corporate Journey BoxTM program in collaboration with EMHS contact us.

Participate as an organization

If you would like to help build Journey BoxesTM as a project, or become a recurring contributor by donating a physical item, cash, or gift certificate to boxes contact us.

Act individually

If you know of a person in need such as a family member, friend, coworker, or church member, we'd like to collaborate with you on creating a Journey BoxTM.​​​​

Who can receive one​

Journey Boxes can be publicly or anonymously donated.

• Empire Mental Health Support pledges to connect with other local nonprofits that focus on mental health and recovery such as services for veterans, the homeless, or the judicial system to start a Journey BoxTM program with us.

• Individuals, family members, or caretakers can contact us to reserve or create Journey BoxesTM.​
